Our Summer Reading Program starts Wednesday, June 7.

Are you ready for some summer fun?

We are! And we can’t wait for you to join us this summer!

This year’s theme is All Together Now and focuses on friendship, kindness, and unity.

From reading incentive programs to Wacky Wednesdays for kids, amazing raffles, and an adult craft camp, we promise a fantastic time for all ages!

Join us and celebrate with us the joy of reading!

SUMMER KICK-OFF!

Wednesday, June 7

from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

Summer kick-off is a huge in person event to start our summer reading program!

We will have the Bobby Cordell magic Show along with Tiny Tails Petting Zoo,

snow cones, cotton cnady, bubbles, hot dogs, face painting, and more!

 

SUMMER READING INCENTIVE PROGRAM

This year we are introducing “brag tags” for each completed reading log, along with a prize.

Reading logs are available at the circulation desk and at Miss Beth’s desk in the Youth Room.

Performances are at 10:30 a.m.

The Youth Summer Reading Program will begin on Wedensday, June 7 through Wednesday, August 2.

READING PROGRAM

For ages 12 – 17

To enter a prize drawing, 3 YA books must be read and reviewed (including graphic novels).

Books must be checked out from the library and read over the summer.

Prizes will be drawn at the end of summer. The deadline for entering is August 4.

Teens can enter as many times as they like! Happy reading, folks!

3 items read = 1 entry into the drawing to win 1 of 10 prizes!

Prizes: Amazon gift card, speaker, wireless earbuds, headphones, Hover Star x4, LED light Strip!

TEEN SUMMER CAMP: BATTLEBOTS FOR BEGINNERS

Ages 13 – 19

June 22 to June 24

11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

Only 20 spaces available – Register asap!

Design and build your own BattleBot starting from an RC Hotwheels car and a motor! Various building materials will be available including a 3D printer! Bots will battle in a tournament at the end of camp.

ARCADE NIGHT FOR TEENS & TWEENS

June 26

4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.

Play arcade games designed by local Wimberley teenagers, win tickets, exchange for prizes!

OWL YARD ART FOR TEENS

August 12

11:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

READING PROGRAM

How it works:

1- Stop by the library to pick up a brochure

2- Complete five activites in total out of these categories:

Read – Read and record the title of the book

Watch – Check out DVDs from our collection, watch, and record the movie title

Listen – Check out aduiobooks from our collection, listen, and record the title of the audiobook

(example: 3 books + 1 movie + 1 audio book = 5 activities)

3- For every 5 activities completed, you get 1 entry in our raffle

4- Return your entry to the library by dropping it off or mail it to: Wimberley Village Library / Attn.: Nomi González / Adult SRP 2023 / P.O. Box 1240, Wimberley, TX 78676

Mira una película – Pide prestado un DVD de nuestra colección, velo y anota el título

Escucha – Pide prestado un libro en audio de nuestra colección, escúchalo y anota el título

(ejemplo: 3 libros + 1 película + 1 libro en audio = 5 actividades)

3- Por cada 5 actividades realizadas, obtienes una entrada a nuestra rifa

ADULT CRAFT CAMP

Registration starts Friday, June 9 @ noon

Adult participants will have an opportunity to enter a raffle to win a Craft Basket filled with goodies including a $25 Amazon gift card!

Raffle will take place on June 20th

Schedule:

10:00 – 11:30 Zippered Pouch Hand Sewing 101 with Ann Steine

Hand-sew fabrics and add emebellilshments to make a one-of-a-kind zippered pouch

11:30 – 12:00 Lunch

12:00 – 1:30 Needle Felting 101 with Michelle Robinson

Needle felt various shapes like flowers, a bee and a rabbit to make a community garden

1:45 – 3:15 Decorative Paper Cones with Stephanie Miller

Make decorative haning paper cone vases to hold treats, candy, flowers and more

3:30 – 5:00 Printmaking 101 with Donna Gary

Carve a design on a speedball block to make a series of unique cards

All classes are beginner friendly!
