A high-school sophomore has been named to the board of the Wimberley Village Library Foundation as part of an effort to diversify the board and to hear ideas from new voices.

Sophia Fox, 16, is a student at Wimberley High School. Her service on the foundation board began last week.

The foundation board’s primary focus right now is to raise funds for a $4 million expansion that will have activities areas and materials mainly for children and teens. Ms. Fox had already served as a member of the library steering committee to develop the teen section of the expanded library.

Ms. Fox will be inducted into the National Honor Society this month at the school, where she is also active in the Interact Club. Her academic pursuits have included the completion of courses in theater, creative writing, neuropsychology and social psychology through Duke University’s Weekend and Summer Scholar programs.

She is an avid reader and player of Dungeons and Dragons.
