IMPORTANT INFORMATION!

Class registration begins on Friday at noon for the next week’s classes ONLY and closes again on Monday at noon. To register for classes, you must register between 12 pm Friday and 12 pm Monday.

HOW TO REGISTER:

1.       Visit the Library’s homepage and scroll down to the Events Calendar.

2.       Go to the date of the class you want to attend.

3.       Click the text that says “Registration is required”

4.       Fill in your information.

You should receive a confirmation from Assabet, the library’s scheduling software. Assabet will also send class reminders and a link to cancel if you need to.

SCHEDULE

May 6: Minimalist Face with Patterns – Presented by Jennifer McGee

Inspired by ceramicist and designer, Jonathan Adler, we’ll create interesting patterns and designs around a simple face. This will be a mixed media project with choices of a few different mediums available for you to explore, including watercolor, India ink, and colored pencils.

 

May 13: Lightbulb Hot Air Balloons – Presented by Janna Mills

Create Spring inspired hot air balloons, using lightbulbs as a base. We’ll use mixed media to build our balloons, complete with a basket for tiny passengers! This craft comes highly requested, so be sure to register on time!

 

May 20: Bioplastic Suncatchers – Presented by Jen

Plastic that’s safe for the environment? We’ll mix up a batch of nontoxic bioplastic from common household ingredients and use it to create beautiful natural suncatchers in rainbow colors!

 

May 27: Pink Eraser Stamps – Presented by Jen

Try simple carving techniques to convert basic pink school erasers into reusable rubber stamps! You can use them to personalize cards, envelopes, paper projects and more!

PAPER IN PERSON

Make journal pages, decorative tags and other mixed media projects using a variety of materials.

May 7: Artist Trading Cards – Presented by Jen

Learn the ins and outs of ATCs – or Artist Trading Cards – and create your own to collect or trade! We’ll play with watercolors, stamps, stencils, and texture paste to make several small cards.

May 21: Sashiko Paper Embroidery – Presented by Jen

Ever wanted to try Sashiko embroidery but didn’t know how to get started? Try this low-stakes project and create unique art to frame or hang. Sashiko is a traditional Japanese embroidery technique that uses simple running stitches to form geometric designs and patterns. 

LADIES NIGHT OUT: TRUTHS & TWISTS

Bring your friends and compete for prizes as we test your knowledge of food around the world! Discover odd and edible curiosities, weird facts about common foods, and forbidden dishes. SOLO STUDIO: SEWING MACHINES

Wednesdays in May

Want to sew but don’t have a machine? Solo Studio is your answer! You can use a Craft Lab sewing machine to complete your latest project, mend your wearables, or get your sewing questions answered. Class is open to ages 16+.

ADULT CRAFT LAB BOOK COLLECTION

The library collection has over 200 books on craft history and hands-on craft projects from soap-making to maker technology! These books are located in the non-fiction area and are available for check-out.
