Twenty short and very short movies have been selected to be shown in competition at the Wimberley Film Festival, now in its fifth year. The festival is sponsored by the Wimberley Village Library and Wimberley Valley Chamber of Commerce. The films all have a Texas connection of some sort: some were shot in the state and others were made by natives of Texas or are about Texas subjects. The festival will begin at 6 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 19, at the library, 400 FM 2325 in Wimberley.
All the movies will be screened, and professional judges will select the best entered in two age groups: 17 and under and 18 and over. The festival also features the traditional red carpet, champagne and popcorn. The event is free and open to the public. The actual viewing of the entries is expected to take less than two hours. Judges’ selections will be announced after an intermission. A People’s Choice Award will go to at least one of the movies.
