Hundreds of kids came to the library Wednesday for the kickoff to our summer reading program for children and young adults. The day’s activities included horseback rides and free refreshments. For the next two months, Wacky Wednesdays will feature some of the best child-oriented entertainment acts in the Central Texas area. They will perform beginning at 10:30 each Wednesday in the main room of the library. The schedule includes Staci Gray, a children’s magician on June 5; Daniel G Benes science show on June 12; the Austin Reptile Show on June 19; Mr. Will, a children’s magician, on June 26; the Wild Things Zoofari on July 3; Silly Sparkles the Clown on July 10; David Womer and his reptiles on July 17; John O’Bryant, a magician on July 24; and the Magik Theater with Jack and the Beanstalk on July 31.

In addition to the Wacky Wednesdays for kids, they will also have the chance to read books for prizes as part of our summer reading incentive program. Children will fill out logs of what they have read and then turn those logs in for a prize. This program runs through Aug. 10.
