Explore medieval crafts that have survived through the centuries. These crafts connect us to history in a very tactile and tangible way, helping us appreciate the skills that enabled our ancestors to survive. This summer camp event for adults promotes keeping these crafts alive for future generations.
Class schedule:
Nalbinding @ 10:30 a.m.
Before knitting, before crochet, there was nalbinding. The Norse used nalbinding to create warm garments so they could survive the harsh winters. Learn about the history of nalbinding and stitch a simple bracelet to take home.
Candlemaking @ 12:00 p.m.
Neolithic people began using beeswax around 9,000 years ago and humans have been enjoying it ever since! Make a simple decorative candle to take home.
Leatherwork @ 2:00 p.m.
Prehistoric peoples used animal hides to construct clothing and shelter. Since then, leather has been a staple of industries like clothing, furniture, automobiles, and more. Create your own faux leather keychains.
Metalwork @ 3:30 p.m.
Metalworking predates recorded history and is as essential today as it was in prehistoric times. Craft a pair of elegant earrings using metal wire.
SATURDAY STUDIO:

10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
Registration is required. To register, visit our website and use the link in the events calendar section located on the home page.
