One of the ways is to volunteer. Another is to hang around younger people. And another is to keep your brain working.
Here’s a way to do three in one, and it’s on the list:
“Dust off that library card.”
That’s right. Here’s what AARP says about that life-lengthening tip: “A study of 3,635 older adults found that book readers had a 23-month survival advantage and 20 percent lower mortality risk compared with nonreaders. Reading was protective regardless of gender, education or health.”
What AARP doesn’t say is that dusting off that library card will also stretch your budget.
