Architects from MarmonMok in San Antonio met with the library board of trustees yesterday, Thursday, Sept. 13, to go over revised plans for Phase 1 of construction to expand the present building. Phase 1 is primarily designed to add more space for children and teens. More parking is also in the plan, added to the east and north of the building.
The cost estimate to complete Phase 1 is now $1.7 million. The foundation has said it would like to raise substantially more than that because of the possibility of cost over-runs and because that number does not appear to include furnishings and additional staffing.
Below is a photo of the two architects with the trustees. And below that is a link to the material presented Thursday.
Hello
Am very happy to know that the library is expanding to handle the increased use of our present facilities and the expanding population in the Wimberley Valley.
As a Friend of the Library,I am sorry to not be able to attend the Sunday September 30th Event, and share my observations and support for the library expansion. Apparently that is a heavily scheduled day; sorry to have a prior commitment. Perhaps you will have another similar event at another time of the week, when I can attend.
There was an earlier Public Comments Meeting, which I also had to miss, because I had to go out of state to help with the care of my 102 yr old mother. I am again considering offering some suggestions for development of the WimLib expansion for serious consideration, which I only had time then to offer verbally. Will the Expansion Committee be considering another time for public comment, now that preliminary plans are sketched out? Love to see them.
The Wimberley Library has been a haven for me while my husband has been going through medical crisis. The staff has been a helpful support team, when I had to face going home to an empty house. Rather, than re-hook-up the high speed computer at home, I love coming here to the WimLib. I am grateful for the fine and helpful staff at the WimLib and their informative, helpful and entertaining programs. These programs are of increasing informative and timely support in the community it seems.
Looking forward to supporting the WimLib Expansion efforts. Love to see the preliminary plans. Where can we do that?
Thanks for all the great service and care of my many book friends, and the supportive computer access. Please do not wait for the entire library expansion to invest in computer services.
The Art Auction is a wonderful idea. Thanks! May it do well. Given the support of the Gallery Space for local artists, which I imagine will continue, I can imagine a big event at the Wimberley Community Center: an Art and Whatever Auction with the great Jazz Group that plays there, once a month…. Will donate a print, when that time comes?
Thanks for launching this important campaign. As a Library Latch-Key kid in my elementary years, the Enoch Pratt Free Library system in Baltimore, libraries have made many important contributions in my life. Thanks………
Namaste,

P.S. Shall I write up my suggestions for an Elders Room and submit here?
